Every year, applications open on the first Monday of September. Applications are due the first day of classes for Fall term at the University of Oregon (UO), typically in late September. Awards will be announced in early October and include $2,500 a year in funding, as well as mentorship with Dr. Scott Fisher and Dr. Charity Woodrum.
This program is open to both UO students and students from Oregon community colleges and institutions (2-year or 4-year programs) that are transferring to UO. Our program is open to all undergraduate students majoring in physics or astronomy related programs (earth science, atmospheric science, etc.). We especially encourage individuals who identify with groups that have been historically excluded from STEM to apply (including but not limited to, e.g., racial and ethnic minorities, individuals with disabilities, LGBTQ+ identifying individuals, first-generation college students, veterans, and students from lower socio-economic backgrounds). All students are eligible regardless of residency or immigration status (e.g., DACA students, students holding F1 visas, permanent residents, etc. are eligible to apply). UO students who qualify for federal work-study financial assistance are also encouraged to apply.
